Our mission is to produce top quality veal in a way that is animal and environmentally friendly. We constantly strive to attain the optimum balance between economic interests on the one hand and animal welfare and the environment on the other. The Peter’s Farm concept aligns with this mission perfectly.
The calves have space, a varied diet, and are able to determine their own rhythm. Since switching to the Peter’s Farm concept, we have noticed that the animals are more playful and relaxed than they were previously. The hallmark we were awarded by the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals confirms we are on the right track.
We have also taken far-reaching sustainability measures. We have drastically reduced our energy consumption by installing 300 solar panels. A biomass heat exchanger produces hot water for the calves’ milk and to heat the stalls. We have also made preparations to install a manure digester. Finally, we produce maize a short distance from our business. We fertilise it with manure from our own calves, thus completing the ecological cycle.
If we have time, we grab our racing bikes. We have participated in the Delta Ride of the Roses a few times. The proceeds go to the KWF Kankerbestrijding cancer charity.
