The really nice thing about Peter's Farm is the support we get. Every week, a representative comes by to discuss the management of the calves with us. In that way, you know that you're doing the right things. Do we have plans for the future? Nothing spectacular. We’d like to carry on farming the way we have until now. We don’t have much in common with the expansionism of the Dutch agribusiness. For us, it isn’t all about getting bigger.
The company is energy neutral for electricity. There are also plans for the future to adjust the hot water supply. My father only keeps an eye on things, but if necessary he is always there to lend a helping hand. My husband Jan works 32 hours a week as a forklift driver but is active on the farm the rest of the time. Especially now that dad has taken a step back.
The essence of Peter's Farm is the combination of focused personal attention on the calves and high-quality technological support. The latter is not so easy to get to grips with. As a farmer, you’re not taught these things, which is why I am so happy with my husband, Jan. He does all the technical work in the business. He may have married into it, but he’s now just as excited about Peter's Farm as we are.
