In 1997, my father and I took the few steps needed to switch to the Peter’s Farm concept. We believed it was the way calves should be farmed. They are given a great deal of freedom. If they want fresh air, they simply walk over to a door where the outside air streams in. We have been running the business ourselves since 2009, but do not underestimate the children’s contribution. Our sons in particular enjoy helping us release the calves.
We have had a campsite on our Peter’s Farm since 2012 - De Kalverhoeve www.dekalverhoeve.nl – and it has 22 pitches. Many people have no idea what goes into veal farming, certainly not the way it is done on a Peter’s Farm. People are often also amazed at the sustainability measures we have implemented. Solar panels on the roof, a wood burner for heating the milk. It puts farming in a completely new light! My sons and I play football. Our daughter enjoys pony riding and my wife enjoys horseback riding.
