If you were to ask me what I like most about Peter’s Farm, it would be working with the animals. We are always busy in the stalls. Day and night, if necessary. You become attached to them that way. The calves get to know you. Some are very playful. They come to you when you call them. Almost the same as a horse or dog does. Our children give names to the ones that stand out. For example, we had a calf that was bald and we called it Gertje.

Doing what you love is a pleasure

Veal farming according to the Peter’s Farm concept demands a high level of hygiene. We have a hygiene sluice. Visitors are registered, always wear occupational clothing in the stalls, and have to walk through a basin of disinfectant. It is hard work, but you won’t hear us complain. Doing what you love is a pleasure. We have by no means reached our full potential on this farm.

We want to embrace innovation and apply new insights and technology. We now have rubber flooring in a section of the stalls. The traditional watchful approach of the farmer and a modern, high-tech approach to operational management; that combination is what makes Peter’s Farm so fascinating.
